Molo, hellooo, howzeet!

I’m Mike Loewe, journalist, etc., here in Grahamstown. I’ve attended every festival since ’95, and one or two more before that.

I’ve pulled together a team of journo bloggers, mense who love the performing arts and have a good feel for the National Arts Festival.

Our jop is to waft around the festival, soak it al up, look, experience, and then rush off to blog away on this site.

We’ll have a pic or two hundred, lots of variety, plenty of guest bloggers — they get a ticket, we get their fine thoughts in words.

We want to get across one thing: emotion.

Is it there?

And originality.

Is it here?

We’re not particularlly academic and hopefully not pretentious.

I’d like our bloggers to tell it in the words that helped them see and feel it.

And we know how many takes people can have on a piece of art. And we are aware that no peformer comes to festival to make k*k work.

Hmmm, maybe some do, but we’ll keep our views within this idea: do no evil (tho’  someone else got there first) but that is the gist.  Alerting festinoes to drivel fits the bill.

We all know by know that kiss-ass journalism does nobody no good, so let’s see if our bloggers can hold the line, stay true to their intuition, draw on some experience — or the experience — and do a fair job.

Natch, if a show makes us our palms sweet and our eyes well up and we get that ever-so festival desire to stand up on hindies to cheer, whistle, scream and break down with joy and appreciation at how our lives changed forever in a single instant, well that is our tradition at the National Arts Festival.

And that is what we shall do..

We are here, we think, and we hope Bafana are here-ish too, but onwards we go.

Looking forward to seeing  how it all pans out!

Let the blogging begin!

LET’S DOEN IT!

(And, we’d appreciate it if you’d talk back to us.)

Baai,

Mike
